with two people being stabbed. sharon chin reports. >> reporter: police say it started with a big fight on larkin and o'farrell and a couple with stabbed. five to ten people were involved at 3:30 a.m. they don't know the cause. a man was stabbed in the face and shoulders, a woman stabbed in the stomach. the couple went down the block to a market. the store clerk said that he gave them napkins to stop the bleeding before paramedics arrived to take them to the hospital. police say they are looking into finding more witnesses to step forward to help in the investigation because many of them ran off when police got to the scene so so far officers say that they are looking for more than one suspect. but they don't have suspect description. they also don't have any description of any getaway car. that's where they are at this point at the tenderloin police

substation. frank? >> sharon chin live in san francisco, thank you. this morning, native americans are still trying to block development on what they say is sacred land in vallejo. they could have been ticketed or even arrested for spending four nights at glen cove waterfront park. but late last night, they won a small victory. they won't be arrested. they have to take down their tents because there is a strict no camping policy at glen cove but the indians are determined to stay at the park until the district agrees to keep the land as is. >> this is where our ancestors are buried. they rest in peace and they want to disturb that peace and we can't allow that as indigenous people of this country. >> we will be here until the situation is revolved. >> that could take months. >> we will be here until the situation is resolved. >> they still plan to construct a parking lot and restroom.

santa cruz police investigating if drugs or alcohol played a role in a deadly fall. police say a 22-year-old fremont man got too close to the cliffside along westcliffe drive last night and plunged 25 feet onto a rock ledge and died. he was with two friends at the time. they were not hurt. neighbors say it is a dangerous area. the name of the victim hasn't been released yet. and doctors plan to keep injured giants fan bryan stow under sedation for another week. his medication was originally lowered last friday in the hopes he would be brought out of his medically-induced coma but he then began to have seizures and they resumed sedation. one positive sign, the family says he is showing signs of brain activity. new this morning there is a good chance caltrain will keep stations open and the trains running. board members hinted they have a plan to keep the transit alive for another year although passengers may have to pay

"mercury news" reports details of the plan have not been released but it could be approved as early as thursday during a special meeting. today thousands of bay area job hunters might be served some mighty good news. kiet do shows us who is hiring. >> reporter: we're live here at the mcdonald's on curtner and monterey highway and they are getting ready to open right now. this is a big day for the mcdonald's corporation and a lot of experts say it's a big day for our economy as well and that's because it is mcdonald's national hiring day. they are looking to hire thousands of people, everyone from part time to full time positions entry level positions also all the way up to managers, as well. now, last year in northern california they were looking for 900 new hires but this year, it has more than doubled. this time they are looking to hire more than 2,000 people in the area. nationwide the target is 50,000 people and the job growth is

in one peninsula city are concerned about their cloudy start to the morning but we have sunshine in store later on. you can see these highs that we are going to see will be in the 60s and even squeezing out some low 70s. mountain view topping out at 67 today. 68 for milpitas and for san jose. 70 for cupertino. >> sounds great, kristy. thanks much. it is 5:11 on your tuesday. some people in one peninsula city are concerned about the public safety going into private hands. cities of san carlos and belmont both share a fire department but san carlos feels it's paying a little too much. it's notified belmont it intends to ends that relationship come october. last night san carlos discussed contracting the city's fire response to a security firm now based in florida. >> i don't want a constant stream of rookie firefighters protecting my families from the emergency that is exist.

>> as a profit entity, they put profit before safety. we wouldn't have survived 50 years in the private sector if that was true. >> the proposal could save san carlos $2 million in the first year. the city plans to make a final decision next week. today bart will swear in three deputy police chiefs to replace two commanders. the new jobs are not unionized as in the past. the change is intended to streamline management structure and give bart police chief kenton rainy a stronger hand in running the department. consultants recommended the shift after the fatal shooting of an unarmed passenger, oscar grant. and medical marijuana dispensaries will be up for debate at tonight's san jose city council meeting. the council tentatively approved zoning for the clubs to commercial areas and industrial areas. still to be determined how many dispensaries to be allowed. right now they are up to 125 in the city. some councilmembers want to limit the number to 10. it is 5:12.

police are asking witnesses to come forward.. after a violent street fight in the tenderloin in the headlines, police are asking witnesses to come forward after a street fight in the tenderloin this morning. a man was stabbed in the face, his girlfriend stabbed in the stomach. both were rushed to the hospital. police say they are looking for multiple suspects. in japan, a key step to stabilize the crippled nuclear power plant now under way this morning. workers are pumping 25,000 tons of radioactive water from the basement of one reactor's turbine building. the water is being moved to a makeshift storage air area to allow access to restore cooling systems knocked out in last month's tsunami. several states bracing for another possible tornado outbreak. forecasters predict rain, hail and twisters and parts of the mississippi and ohio valleys. several southern states cleaning up from the worst series of twisters in decades.

a beautiful day in store in the bay area. we're between systems. you will enjoy a little bit of sunshine today. this morning it's a mild start. we are seeing temperatures only in the 50s so not too cold and a little bit of fog and drizzle out there along the coastline. as we make our way into the afternoon, that's where we are going to see a nice warmup especially in the inland spots. seeing some temperatures actually flirting with the 70s along the bay and coast seeing some nice weather in the 60s as well although we may see that fog holding tight so cooler there. satellite showing us that we are dry today and that's because of this area of high pressure that's temporarily built in. behind it an area of low pressure will bring us showers starting as early as wednesday afternoon and through thursday morning. so you will need to grab the umbrella not quite yet though. here's a look at your highs neighborhood by neighborhood. 67 for los altos and redwood city. 68 palo alto. union city at 65. 68 in milpitas. over in the east bay a little cooler along the bay shores. 64 for berkeley, warmer in

walnut creek at 60. 67 for dublin and livermore. 70 for brentwood, antioch and pittsburg. 67 stinson beach. fairfield we are looking at a high of 68. 69 for napa. beautiful weather as we make our way into the afternoon today. but then we have another weak system making its way into the forecast starting wednesday afternoon, showers through thursday morning then friday we are seeing mostly sunny conditions. saturday though a little more cloud cover but sunday and monday shaping up nicely with highs in the low 70s and mostly sunny skies. traffic with elizabeth. enjoy today while it lasts. we are dry for the start of the morning commute. we are still trying to figure out if this is completely cleared from lanes. it's in dublin, northbound 680 just past the 580 interchange. there was an accident involving a big rig. no slowing or delays but even

if one lane is blocked, watch out for that one problem spot. westbound 580 great from pleasanton towards the dublin interchange, 14 minutes. the only thing we are dealing with across the golden gate bridge is fog but traffic still very, very light in those southbound lanes of 101 as you head towards the toll plaza cruising into san francisco. towards the san mateo bridge one of our traffic sensors there picking up speeds around 65 miles per hour towards the toll plaza. here's a live look at conditions across the san mateo bridge. great towards foster city and the peninsula. silicon valley commute no problems westbound, no congestion right now. 101 near third street quick trip past hospital curving. another camera on 101 near hills day in san mateo where

everything is a quick trip in either direction. you can see all those cars there heading into the city, into san francisco. remember kcbs, our radio partners, at 740-am and 106.9- fm. you can find them on the fm dial if you still have a dial. that's your traffic. back to you. >> still have dials out there. a few people do. thank you. it's 5:20 now. the proposed 49ers stadium in the south bay is back on the line-up for the lawmakers. today the santa clara council will discuss finding the -- funding, rather, funding the stadium with tax allocation bonds. the first $25 million would be used for the bayshore north redevelopment project and leftover money would be used for the stadium project. it would have happened anyway, that's what pg&e is saying about the inaccurate records and the pipeline explosion in san bruno. the ntsb says the explosion happened at an incomplete weld

on a pipe seam. and pg&e's records show the pipe did not even have a seam in the first place. but now pg&e tells state regulators the type of weld that ruptured does not have a record of failing. so even with better records the company still would have tested for corrosion and not flawed welds. another air traffic controller has been suspended. not for falling asleep on the job this time but for watching a movie. investigators say the air traffic controller in cleveland accidentally turned on his microphone, so for more than three minutes the movie sound traffic was transmitted over the radio. he became aware of the problem when contacted by the pilot of a military plane. his manager has also been suspended. >> can you imagine being in the plane hearing some sound track from a movie? >> that's a costly mistake. >> hello, busy place, too. the ipad getting some competition today. what the latest player in the tablet wars has to offer. >> we would admit more

spike in out-of-state students for next year's freshman class. it all comes down to cold hard it's getting tougher to get into the university of southern california for california students. the out of state students next year are up by 20% next year because of money. berkeley is turning to out of state students to help pay the bills because of a cut in state funding. >> i think it's around 52,000 for out of state. >> we would admit for this california students if we had state funding. >> out of state students pay about $23,000 more than in state students every year. tonight san jose school officials will hold the first of three public meetings on potential budget cuts there. it happened at the bret harte middle school from 7 p.m. 2:08 p.m. tonight. the san jose unified school district is seeking input about the dates for teacher furlough days. the district is also trying to plan ahead in the face of uncertainty with the state budget. two other public meetings will happen sometime next week. well, the tablet computer market is getting a little more

yeah, we are seeing a little bit of drizzle and fog out there but things are looking good for this afternoon. our highs as you can see are going to be in the 60s and even a 70. san francisco 62. 65 for oakland. 68 in san jose. 70 in concord. and we are going to see mostly sunny skies inland. i'll have a full look at the forecast in a bit. let's go to elizabeth and see how traffic is going. >> we don't have any big hot spots out there now but we are dealing with fog. here's a live look at conditions across the golden gate bridge. we are getting that weird halo effect from the street lamps because of the fog but traffic is light including at the bay bridge toll plaza. we'll take a check of mass transit plus we do have a little bit of ongoing roadwork out there so we'll look at that as well. in the meantime, back to you. >> thank you. it is 5:30. a violent 24 hours in the bay area. a woman was shot and killed in oakland last night, then a few hours later a man was shot. and in san francisco, a big street fight ends one two

people stabbed. let's go to sharon chin. she is at the tenderloin police station with what investigators are now saying. sharon, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. police say that a man and woman are recovering this morning at san francisco general hospital from their stab wounds. apparently each was stabbed twice. the man suffering face and shoulder area injuries. his girlfriend stabbed in the stomach area. they came to a corner store on larkin and ellis streets where the clerk apparently gave them napkins to stop the bleeding before paramedics arrived. police say the couple got attacked during a big street fight a block away around 3:30 this morning. officers say they have no information on what started the fight. they say five to ten people were involved in the fight but they ran off when police came on the scene. so officers are asking witnesses to step forward to help them identify multiple suspects they believe were responsible for the stabbing. but so far police have no suspects descriptions or

description of any suspects vehicle. that's where we are at this point. >> thank you, sharon chin in san francisco. it is 5:31. today jurors will watch a video that's some of the strongest evidence yet against the man accused of ordering a killing of oakland journalist chauncey bailey. yusef bey iv was secretly recorded while in police custody. the video shows him laughing about the murder and admitting he had the gun that was used. he even coached his two other suspects in the room on what to tell the police. >> in my opinion, if you listen to it, it doesn't incriminate. it doesn't contradict anything that he said. but it certainly paints him in an unflattering way. it paints him as a young 19- year-old kid who is full of himself, probably a little bit scared and they were all i think afraid. >> the defense attorney says nothing on the tape proves that bey ordered the murder. the attorney is fighting to have most of it thrown out of court. this morning, san jose

police are asking for help tracking down a murder suspect. mario jesus hernandez is accused of shooting a man to death at home on sunday. the 22-year-old is considered armed and dangerous, still no word on a motive. injured giants fan bryan stow will be sedated for at least another week, at least that's the latest from his doctors in los angeles. now, last friday they had hoped he could be brought out of his medically-induced coma but then started havin -- having small seizures. he was attacked 2.5 weeks ago outside dodger stadium. the family says he is starting to show some brain activity. a little bit of overcast, but we might see a little bit of sunshine. >> we have some drizzle out there now and temperatures are mild because of the cloud cover sitting in the 50s for the most

part, 55 in san rafael, 56 up in napa, same story for vallejo, 57 in concord, oakland and fremont. 56 livermore, 57 in redwood city. we are getting a little bit of a break today. you can see we're actually free from clouds this afternoon at least there will be some cloud cover this morning but another system that's sitting off the coast that's going to make its way into the bay area on wednesday bringing us some showers as early as wednesday afternoon through thursday morning but these will be light showers. 68 in fairfield. we'll have a full look at the forecast in just a bit but let's check traffic with elizabeth. >> let's go out towards highway 4 and we are seeing our first bit of slow traffic here. we have a few brake lights past a street but off the antioch bridge everything still looks great there. again that bottleneck typically

from a street towards somersville. towards the san mateo bridge, sounds like actually our roadwork near the 880/92 interchange has been picked up so right now you're good to go across the span towards foster city and the peninsula. 880 through oakland there was some roadwork in the northbound lanes of 880 for a while between 29th and fifth avenue embarcadero but again, that is all picked up, as well. so we are going to zoom in towards the oakland coliseum. the as take on boston tonight at 7:05. so you may find some heavier traffic up and down the nimitz freeway through oakland later on this evening. you are good to go for right now towards silicon valley westbound 237 traffic fine exiting milpitas. and just quickly want to mention ace train number one may be behind schedule about 10 minutes. it sounds like there was a medical emergency so the train is holding near vasco. all right. that is your traffic. back to you. >> thank you. police in san francisco cracking down on prostitution on polk street. this after neighbors complained that a number of sex peddlers

outbreak. today forecasters predicting rain, hail, even more twisters in the area. this time, parts of the mississippi and ohio valleys could be hit hardest with even more nasty weather expected tomorrow. let's get a check of what's happening around the bay area and northern california and certainly no problems like that whatsoever. >> no. it's actually going to be a beautiful day today. a little bit cloudy this morning and a little fog along the coast and the bay shores. we are actually seeing some 45- minute delays for arrivals at sfo right now because of that fog and it's going to be slow to lift today. the good news is we have some nice warmer temperatures in store this afternoon. mostly sunny conditions in those inland spots and around the bay and coast. we are going to see partly cloudy skies but still pretty nice weather with highs in the mid-60s and even squeezing out low 70s inland. satellite showing us that area of high pressure that's temporarily built in bringing us those dry and warmer conditions today. but you can see sitting behind us we have that area of low pressure that's going to make

sensors down there showing top speeds pretty much everywhere you go. here's a live look at that northbound traffic on 280 approaching the 880 interchange. silicon valley commuters once again 237 traffic looks great one of our sensors there showing speeds about 58 miles per hour as you head towards san jose. and along the peninsula, 101, 280, both quick trips this morning through san mateo county. this is the dumbarton bridge. eastbound 84 approaching the high-rise various lanes blocked, two rights lanes blocked until 6:00 this morning. but it's not causing any problems. and westbound 84 in the commute direction quiet towards menlo park. san mateo bridge, conditions great here, as well. no fog on the cameras except the golden gate bridge.

back to you. >> thank you. in the headlines, a violent street fight in san francisco's tenderloin early this morning. a man was stabbed in the face, his girlfriend stabbed in the stomach, both rushed to the hospital. multiple suspects still on the loose this morning. doctors say they will keep injured giants fan bryan stow sedated for another week. he had seizures but he is showing brain activity. a step toward ending the nuclear crisis in japan, workers at that crippled nuclear power plant are pumping 25,000 tons of radioactive water out of the basement. that will now allow crews to reach the cooling systems knocked out in last month's tsunami so they can restore them. bp's fund to help oil spill victims in the gulf is almost untouched. they provided $20 billion for

that fund. but only about $4 billion have been paid out. administrators say some claims are still being considered. the report though comes two days before the one-year anniversary of the disaster. another air traffic controller is suspended, this time for watching a movie. investigators say the air traffic controller in cleveland accidentally turned on his microphone for more than three minutes. the movie sound track was transmitted over the radio. now, he became aware of the problem when contacted by the pilot of a military plane. his manager has also been suspended. some good news for caltrain riders. there is a good chance that the agency will keep station open and the trains running. board members hinted that they have a plan to keep the transit alive for trains for another year, although passengers may have to pay more to ride the rails. the "mercury news" reports details of the plan have not yet been released. but it could be approved as

the golden state. there's almost a 20-percent getting into the university of california just got tougher for students from right here in the golden state. there is almost a 20% spike in out of state students for next year's freshman class t comes down to cold, hard cash. berkeley is turning to out of state students to help pay their bills. >> i think it's around $52,000 for out of state. >> we would admit for this california students if we had adequate funding from the

state. >> out of state students pay about $23,000 more than in- state students every year. right now president obama hosting an easter prayer breakfast at the white house and then later today, the president will be holding a meeting on immigration reform. it's expected to include a broad group of business, law enforcement and political leaders. those meetings follow criticism by some advocates who say that the president hasn't focused enough on immigration reform. and president obama will be in the bay area tomorrow. he is hosting a town hall style event via facebook at the company's headquarters in palo alto. the event will be streamed live online starting at 1:45. the main topics, jobs and the economy. after that the president will attend a fundraiser in san francisco that just may set a new record at almost $36,000 per person. >> better be a good dinner. >> what's on that menu.

>> prime rib, baby. the long-running lawsuit over facebook that even launched a hollywood movie lives on. tyler and cameron winklevoss of harvard are appealing last week's ruling which found a settlement between the twins and facebook founder mark zuckerberg to be valid. now, the winklevosses got $20 million in the deal plus company stock but the twins say they were misled about facebook's value. apparently they want more. well, the beef is now settled in another lawsuit. the class action lawsuit claiming taco bell's meat is not real beef has been dropped. the law firm filed the lawsuit in california federal court in january involuntarily withdrew it yesterday after reviewing the facts. taco bell maintains its tacos are filled with 88% beef. the other 12% remains to be seen. it's not changing any of its products or advertising. well, first it was sangria, then a margarita, and now we have another mom claiming that her toddler was served more

than juice and this time, at a chicago area chili's. the mother says her 4-year-old daughter complained that her drink tasted funny. she had order the chocolate milkshake but when her mother tasted the drink, she knew it was an alcoholic mudslide cocktail. >> that's when i saw the waitress approaching me with the chocolate shake. how can you make that mistake? the manager said they were side by side on the bar. >> the child was taken to the hospital and treated for alcohol ingestion overdose. chili's has started a formal investigation. a michigan family filed suit last week after their 15- month-old little boy was mistakenly served margarita instead of apple juice at an applebee's. >> i'm not an investigator but i used to bar at the end for a good five years. if you are make a milkshake it's probably not going to be in the same glass as a
